Two stabbed in Headingley robberies

Police are appealing for witnesses following two incidents in Headingley overnight.

The first incident happened last night (Saturday 31 March) at around 11pm on Estcourt Avenue when a 24-year-old male was assaulted with a knife and had his mobile phone and wallet stolen.

Then at around 3am this morning (Sunday 1 April) police received a call from the ambulance service who reported a 22-year-old male had been stabbed at the junction of Ash Road, Headingley, close to The Arc, as he was taking cash out of an ATM machine.

Both victims suffered serious injuries and were taken to Leeds General Infirmary for urgent medical treatment.

A 19-year-old male has been arrested in connection with both of these incidents and remains in police custody at this time.

A large police cordon has been in place in the area, since the early hours of the morning.
